Vacancy Details
- There are no SC/ST/SEBC/EWS vacancies, so reserved-category candidates apply against unreserved posts (fee concession only). District-wise break-up is in Annexure-A.
Eligibility (as on 20/10/2026)
- Bachelor of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from a recognised university. A law degree is preferred.
- Certificate of basic computer knowledge as prescribed by the Gujarat Government.
- Sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi.
- 2 years' experience in a well-organised library after the degree.
Age Limit (as on 20 October 2026)
- 21 to 37 years. Relaxation: women 5 years, PwBD 10 years, ex-servicemen service + 3 years, Gujarat Government employees up to 5 years. The upper limit cannot exceed 45 years with relaxations.

- Pay Matrix ₹25,500–81,100 plus usual allowances, as per rules.

- City classes (HRA): X = Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Greater Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune. Y and Z cities are as listed by the Department of Expenditure (OM 21.07.2015). HRA is not paid if you live in government quarters.

Selection Process
- Main written exam: 100 MCQs, 100 marks, 2 hours, negative marking 0.33. Syllabus: Library Science, English & Gujarati, General Studies/Reasoning, basic legal knowledge, computer applications.
- Qualifying marks in the written exam: 50% (PwBD 45%).
- Viva-voce: 40 marks, minimum 40% to enter the merit list.
- Select list and wait-list (up to 10% of vacancies) on aggregate marks. District Judiciary candidates give three district preferences.
