HR & Behavioral interview questions

Tell me about yourself, strengths, weaknesses and situation questions, with sample answers.

  1. Do you have any questions for us?

Always ask one to three thoughtful questions. Ask about the role, the team, how new joiners are trained, or what success looks like in the first few months. Avoid questions whose answers are on the website, and leave salary, leave and work timings for the HR discussion after an offer unless they raise it.

  2. How do you answer "Tell me about yourself" as a fresher?

Give a 60 to 90 second story in three parts. Present (who you are and what you study or do now), past (one or two relevant projects, internships or achievements with results) and future (why this role and company fit what you want to do next). Skip your family background and your full marksheet.

  3. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Describe a realistic growth path connected to this role, such as becoming strong in a technical area, taking ownership of larger work and starting to guide juniors, and show that you see that growth happening at this company. Avoid naming a job title you cannot justify or plans that suggest you will leave soon.

  4. Why should we hire you as a fresher?

Match two or three of your strengths to what the role needs, back each with a specific example from a project, internship or college activity, and end with how you will add value and learn quickly. Do not compare yourself to other candidates or simply say you are hardworking.

  5. Why do you want to join our company?

Show that you have researched the company. Mention one or two specific things about its work, products, clients or culture that genuinely interest you, connect them to your own skills and goals, and say what you hope to contribute. Avoid generic answers about brand name, salary or "a good company to work for".

  6. What are your salary expectations as a fresher?

First, try to let the company share its range, saying you are flexible and more focused on the role. If pressed, give a researched range, not a single number, and be clear whether you mean CTC or in-hand pay. For campus roles with a fixed package, simply say you are comfortable with the package offered.
