How would your friends or classmates describe you?
Give two or three traits your friends would genuinely use, each with a small example of how they see it. Including one light, honest flaw makes the answer more believable.
Explain it simply
This is the same question as "describe yourself" but seen through other people's eyes. It tests whether your self-image matches how you come across.
Think of what friends actually come to you for. Do they call you before exams to explain topics? Do they trust you to handle money for a trip? Those habits are your traits. A small honest flaw ("they also say I plan too much") shows self-awareness and makes the rest more believable.
Example
Situation: Vikram is asked this in an HR round at an IT services company.
Task: Answer with traits that are believable and relevant.
Action: He says: "My friends would say I am the person they call before exams, because I make short notes and explain topics on our hostel group. They would also say I am the one who handles the money on group trips, since I track every rupee on a shared sheet. They tease me that I plan too much, but on our Goa trip that meant we never missed a train."
Result: The interviewer smiles at the planning joke and notes him as organised and trustworthy.
What to say in the interview
"My friends would say I am the one who... and the one who... They also tease me that I..., which I am working on."
Common mistakes
- Listing only flattering adjectives with no examples.
- Describing traits that clash with how you act in the interview.
- Making the flaw something serious.
