How do you manage stress?
Name practical habits that work for you, such as planning the day, exercise, sleep and talking to someone, and give an example of using them in a stressful period. Show you notice stress early and act on it.
Explain it simply
Stress is normal; the interviewer wants to know you have healthy ways of handling it so it does not affect your work.
Give two or three habits that are true for you. Planning reduces stress caused by uncertainty; exercise and sleep keep energy up; talking to friends or family helps put things in perspective. Then share a period where these habits helped you stay steady.
Example
Situation: Final-year placements and end-semester exams overlapped for Arvind.
Task: Stay steady through a stressful month.
Action: Each night he wrote the next day's top three tasks, so mornings started without confusion. He kept a 30-minute evening run, slept at least seven hours even in exam weeks, and called home on Sundays. When he felt overwhelmed after two rejections, he talked to a senior who had faced the same.
Result: He finished his exams with a better score than the previous semester and got placed in the third company.
What to say in the interview
"I plan the next day the night before, keep up exercise and sleep, and talk to someone when it builds up. For example, during placements..."
Common mistakes
