Tell me about a time you handled several responsibilities at once.
Describe the different roles you were juggling, how you organised your time, what trade-offs you made, and how each one turned out. Show planning, not just long hours.
Explain it simply
Many freshers have managed college, a club role, part-time work or home responsibilities together. This question checks whether you can balance competing demands without letting one collapse.
Show your system: a calendar, fixed time blocks, saying no to extras, asking for help. Be honest about any trade-off you made.
Example
Situation: In seventh semester, Ravi was the placement coordinator for his department, doing an online internship and preparing for placements himself.
Task: Keep all three on track for three months.
Action: He fixed time blocks: internship work 9 to 1 on weekdays, placement coordination in the evening, and personal preparation early morning. He shared a calendar with the placement cell so they knew when he was reachable, and trained a junior to handle company-visit logistics. He skipped the fest committee that year.
Result: His internship ended with a pre-placement offer, and 85 students from his department were placed that season.
What to say in the interview
"I was handling X, Y and Z together. I used fixed time blocks, shared my availability, delegated part of the work, and said no to extras. The result was..."
Common mistakes
- Describing chaos and calling it multitasking.
- Hiding the trade-offs you made.
- Making it sound like you did all of it alone with no plan.
