- Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has published Advt. No. 24-Exam/2026 on 12/10/2026 for the Combined Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Main Examination (PET-2025)/24 – a total of 1156 posts in the Irrigation & Water Resources Department, PWD, UPSRTC, Panchayati Raj, Ground Water and Prison departments. Only candidates who appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and hold its score card can apply. Eligibility
- UPSSSC PET-2025: Must have appeared in PET-2025 and hold its score card. Shortlisting for Mains is on normalised PET-2025 score; zero/negative PET score is not shortlisted.
- JE / Technical Assistant (Mechanical): 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Board of Technical Education, UP, or equivalent.
- Instructor Machine: Intermediate + 3-year Diploma in Mechanical maintenance from a recognised institution.
- UPSRTC Assistant Storekeeper: Diploma in Automobile / Mechanical Engineering from a recognised polytechnic.
- UPSRTC Mechanic: 3-year Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical (Automobile) Engineering; heavy-vehicle driving licence gets preference.

Age Limit
- 18–40 years for most posts; 21–40 years for Technical Assistant (Mechanical). Age is reckoned on the date fixed by each post's service rules (para 7 of the advertisement). Upper age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and other notified categories as per UP Government rules; UPSRTC in-service candidates get 5 extra years.

Salary
- JE (Mechanical) and allied technical posts: Level-6, ₹35,400–1,12,400 (PWD JE: ₹9,300–34,800 + Grade Pay ₹4,200). UPSRTC Mechanic: Level-5 and Assistant Storekeeper: Level-4 (₹5,200–20,200 pay band).

- City classes (HRA): X = Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Greater Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune. Y and Z cities are as listed by the Department of Expenditure (OM 21.07.2015). HRA is not paid if you live in government quarters.
- State post: DA uses the 60% rate set for this page; check the state's latest DA order. HRA is shown at X/Y/Z percentages as an estimate, and state HRA rules can differ. State transport/conveyance allowance is not included.
- Pension: NPS is shown at 10%. A few states have moved back to the old pension scheme; if so, there is no NPS deduction.

Exam Pattern
- Main written exam: 100 objective questions, 100 marks, 2 hours. 25% negative marking for each wrong answer. Mechanical engineering subjects (machines & machine design, engineering mechanics, strength of materials, thermodynamics, IC engines, steam power, refrigeration, fluid mechanics, etc.) plus computer knowledge and general awareness of UP (para 9 of the advertisement).
