- Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate in notified Food Technology / Dairy / Oil / Biotech / Agriculture / Veterinary / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Chemistry / Medicine groups, or MBBS/BDS/AYUSH degrees as listed. Post-appointment Food Authority training mandatory. Hindi/Sanskrit at Matric (or Hindi in higher education) required.

- City classes (HRA): X = Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Greater Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune. Y and Z cities are as listed by the Department of Expenditure (OM 21.07.2015). HRA is not paid if you live in government quarters.
