Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

  • Interested candidates must fulfil one of the following qualification criteria for the Sports Coach position:
  • Path 1: Passed NIS (National Institute of Sports) or an equivalent diploma/course from the Sports Authority of India (6-month duration), along with at least one year of coaching experience in the relevant sport.
  • Path 2: Possesses B.P.Ed / D.P.Ed / M.P.Ed qualification and is a physically fit Physical Training (PT) teacher with relevant coaching experience.
  • Path 3: H.S.C. (12th) passed with participation at the National or State level in the relevant sport, or with at least 2 years of coaching experience in the relevant sport.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

  • The selection for SMC Sports Coach Recruitment 2026 will proceed through the following stages:
  • Stage 1 – Online Application Submission: Eligible candidates must submit their application online through the Surat Municipal Corporation recruitment portal between 15 October 2026 and 24 October 2026.
  • Stage 2 – Document Verification / Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and/or walk-in interview at the designated SMC venue. Candidates must carry all original documents in support of their qualifications, experience, and age.
  • No application fee has been prescribed in the official notification. No TA/DA will be paid to candidates attending the document verification or walk-in interview.
