Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• The recruitment is exclusively for retired police personnel who served in Odisha Police. The following eligibility conditions must be met:
• Nationality: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Odisha.
• Service Requirement: The candidate must have served in Odisha Police in the rank of Asst. Sub-Inspector, Sub-Inspector, or Inspector of Police.
• Age Limit: The candidate must not be more than 65 years of age as on the date of publication of the advertisement.
• Language Proficiency: The candidate must be able to speak, read, and write Odia.
• Service Record: The candidate must have an unblemished service record with no conviction in criminal cases and no major punishment in departmental proceedings during service career.
• Pending Cases: The candidate must have no criminal case pending against them at the time of application.
• Spouse Condition: The candidate must not have more than one spouse living.
• CCR / PAR: The candidate must have a very good or good CCR (Cumulative Confidential Report) or PAR (Performance Appraisal Report) for a continuous period of sixty months before superannuation.
• Official Quarters: The candidate must have vacated their official government quarter, if allotted earlier.

Selection Process & Screening Criteria

• The selection for Special Police Officer (SPO) posts will be conducted through the following stages at Reserve Police Ground, Sambalpur on 10 November 2026 at 06:30 AM:
• Document Verification: Original certificates of age, qualification, service record, and discharge certificate will be verified on the selection test day.
• Medical Examination: A Medical Board shall assess the physical fitness of candidates. The decision of the Medical Board is final and binding. Persons with physical deformities shall not be eligible for appointment.
• Physical Test: Candidates must cover a distance of 5 (five) kilometres on foot within a period of one hour. Candidates who fail to cover the distance within the stipulated time will be disqualified. Candidates must be physically fit, mentally alert, and capable of performing field duty for at least 8 hours a day during day or night.
• Interview: Candidates who qualify in the medical test and physical test will appear before a Selection Board for an interview to assess suitability for appointment as Special Police Officers.
• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for attending the selection test.
