Are you willing to travel or work from a client site?
If yes, say so clearly and show you understand what client-site work involves, such as different rules, dress code and representing the company. Mention any real constraint honestly.
Explain it simply
IT services, consulting and engineering firms often place staff at a client's office, sometimes in another city, sometimes for months. Field engineers travel to plants or sites. HR wants to know you are willing and that you will represent the company well.
A good answer shows willingness plus awareness: at a client site you follow their rules, keep their data safe and behave as the face of your company.
Example
Situation: Arpita is interviewing with a consulting firm whose analysts work at client offices.
Task: Show willingness and professionalism.
Action: She says: "Yes, I'm happy to. I understand that at a client site I represent the company, so I'd follow their rules and security policies carefully. During my internship I visited a client's warehouse for a week to collect process data, and I enjoyed seeing the actual business up close."
Result: The interviewer sees a candidate who is both willing and aware of the responsibility.
What to say in the interview
"Yes. I understand that at a client site I represent the company and must follow their rules. I enjoyed X during my internship, which was similar."
Common mistakes
- Saying yes without knowing it may mean living away for months.
- Ignoring the responsibility of representing the company.
- Hesitating without giving a reason.
