  • Pay Scale Reference: Rs. 1,60,000 – 400 – 2,08,000 (revised to Rs. 80,000 – 2,20,000). During deputation, the officer may opt for normal deputation pay fixation or parent-department pay plus deputation allowance as per rules. Dearness allowance, local allowance, children's educational allowance, joining time pay, transfer T.A., leave and pension, provident fund, LTC, and medical facilities are admissible.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

  • Senior Deputy Secretary – Essential Qualifications:A degree from a recognised university.Twelve years' experience in executive cadre in General Administration, Personnel, Industrial Relations, or allied fields in an Industrial / Commercial / Government Undertaking.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Post-graduate degree or diploma in Personnel Management, Industrial Relations, Social Work, Labour Welfare, or allied subjects; or a degree in Law from a recognised university.
  • Eligibility for Deputation: Officers holding analogous posts or the post of Dy. Secretary or equivalent in the respective discipline of GAD in the scale of pay of Rs. 13,000 – 18,250 in Government / Semi-Government / PSUs or Autonomous Bodies, with 3 years of regular service in the grade.
  • Eligibility for Absorption (Composite Method): Officers holding analogous posts or Dy. Secretary equivalent (such as CPRO, Dy. Estate Manager, Dy. Chief Law Officer, Personnel Officer) in a Major Port Trust in Rs. 13,000 – 18,250 with 3 years regular service, OR Deputy Secretary equivalent in GAD of a Major Port Trust with 2 years regular service and a combined regular service of 7 years in the scales of Rs. 10,750 – 16,750 and Rs. 13,000 – 18,250.
  • Age Limit: Upper age limit for direct recruitment is 42 years (the post is being filled on Deputation basis, so age relaxations apply per DoPT norms).

Selection Process & Screening Clause

  • Selection is based on deputation rules and merit.
  • The benchmark in the overall grading in the Annual Performance Assessment Reports (APARs) must not be below "Very Good".
  • Applications received only through proper channel within the due date along with all requisite documents will be considered.
  • Candidature of applicants whose advance copy reaches NMPA by 28.10.2026 but whose proper-channel application is not received within 15 days from the last date will not be considered.
  • The officer selected will be governed by Service Rules and Regulations of NMPA as amended from time to time.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for attending any interview or verification stage.

How to Apply for NMPA Senior Deputy Secretary

  • Visit the Online Application Portal (OAP) of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways at http://onlinevacancy.shipmin.nic.in.
  • Fill out the online application form between 29.09.2026 and 28.10.2026.
  • Take a printout of the submitted online application.
  • Gather all required documents: APARs, educational certificates, administrative clearance, vigilance clearance, undertaking, and No Objection Certificate.
  • Superscribe the envelope with "Application for the post of Senior Deputy Secretary in New Mangalore Port Authority".
  • Forward the application through proper channel to Secretary, New Mangalore Port Authority, General Administration Department, Administrative Building, Panambur, Mangalore – 575010, so as to reach on or before 12.11.2026.

  • Undertaking that candidature will not be withdrawn if selected (Annexure-IV)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the respective parent organisation
  • Details of major or minor penalties imposed during last 10 years with disciplinary case documents
  • Veracity certificate towards educational qualification and degree recognition
  • Complete statement of service details signed by Head of Office / HOD
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
