Post-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale

• Note: The remuneration depends on the tonnage slab. During the 6-month training period, the total remuneration is Rs 1,50,000 per month. Once licensed and handling full tonnage, the total remuneration reaches Rs 3,75,000 per month. If no candidate is available for a reserved category, JNPA may engage a Pilot from other available categories as the position is deemed essential for operations.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Certificate of Competency: Candidates must hold a Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign Going Ship issued by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.
• Experience: Minimum one year of post-qualification experience as Master or Chief Officer of a Foreign Going Ship.
• Age Limit: Maximum 55 years at the time of entry to pilotage service. As stated in the notice: "A candidate for pilotage license shall be of 55 years of age at the time of entry to a pilotage service." No age relaxation or age cut-off date is printed in the notification.
• Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible.
• Desirable Qualification: Not specified in the official notification.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• The selection process consists of a direct interview, which will be held in the first week of December 2026. The exact date, time, and venue will be communicated by JNPA.
• JNPA will carry out final verification of educational qualifications, experience, category status, and all eligibility conditions against original documents before the interview or engagement.
• Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before appearing for the interview. Incomplete or ineligible applications will be rejected.
• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for appearing at the interview.
• Canvassing, directly or indirectly, may result in disqualification.
• JNPA reserves the right to postpone or cancel the interview in unavoidable or unforeseen circumstances. The decision of Management is final and binding on eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, reservation, mode of selection, and cancellation of the selection process in part or full.

• Download and fill the prescribed JNPA Pilot Official Notification PDF containing Annexures I, II and III.
• Complete Annexure III – Application for the Post of Pilot (Fixed Term Employment Basis) with all personal details, contact information, date of birth, nationality, caste details, qualifications, certificate of competency details, employment history, sailing experience, languages known, and affix a passport-size photograph.
• Candidates employed in Government / Semi-Government / PSU / Autonomous Bodies must obtain the prescribed certificate from their Head of Department / Competent Authority (printed with the form) certifying that no disciplinary case is pending or contemplated, along with integrity and vigilance clearance.
• Attach self-attested copies of the Master F.G. Certificate of Competency, post-qualification experience certificates, educational qualification certificates, caste certificate, and identity proof.

• Original Matriculation (10th) Certificate / School Leaving Certificate as Proof of Date of Birth
• Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign Going Ship (with DG Shipping endorsement if applicable)
• Post-Qualification Experience Certificates as Master / Chief Officer of a Foreign Going Ship
• All Educational Qualification Certificates and Mark Sheets
• Valid Category / Caste Certificate in prescribed format (SC / ST / OBC-NCL), if applicable
• Controlling Authority Certificate for candidates in Government / PSU / Autonomous Bodies

• Relieving Certificate for those currently employed in Government organisations

• Important: The Pilotage Licence and Master (F.G.) certificate must be kept valid throughout the contract period. Candidates must wear uniform as per Harbour Master Office Circular during pilotage duty.
