Post-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale

• Note: This is a temporary, project-based position. Age relaxation as per Government of India rules applies for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PWD/EWS categories and may also be permitted based on experience and qualification.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• Step 1 – Application Screening: All applications will be screened by the Institute. The Institute retains the discretion to shortlist/restrict the number of candidates invited for interview based on the screening.
• Step 2 – Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The interview date and mode (online/offline) will be notified in due course through email.
• Step 3 – Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of interview/joining.
• Contractual Agreement: Selected candidates will have to sign an agreement at the time of joining.
• No TA/DA: No travel allowance or daily allowance will be paid to candidates for attending the interview.

• The position is purely temporary; extension beyond the initial tenure is based solely on performance.

3. What is the salary for NIT Silchar JRF position?

• The remuneration is Rs. 25,000 per month (consolidated) for the first two years as JRF, and Rs. 30,000 per month in the 3rd year upon promotion to Senior Research Fellow (SRF).

5. What is the age limit and qualification required?

• The upper age limit is 28 years as on 16 October 2026. Candidates must hold M.E./M.Tech. or B.E./B.Tech. with valid GATE/NET qualifying score, or equivalent qualification with first class aggregate in specified Electrical Science engineering disciplines.

6. What is the selection process?

• The selection involves application screening by the Institute, followed by an interview. The Institute may restrict shortlisted candidates during screening. Interview date and mode will be notified through email. No TA/DA will be paid.
