Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Required Qualification: Ph.D. in Materials Science/Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering with a focus on Materials Research and their applications to Electronic Devices, from a recognized university or institution.
• Research Areas Covered: Density Functional Theory, Tight-Binding Theory, Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Semiconductor Devices, Quantum Transport, and Electronic Device Simulation.
• Age Limit: Preference will be given to candidates below 35 years of age as on the last date of application submission.
• Restriction: Candidates who have completed their Ph.D. from IISER Bhopal are not allowed to apply for these IPDF positions.
• Thesis-Submitted Candidates: Eligible to apply; however, must submit the provisional or degree certificate within six months from the date of appointment.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• Stage 1 – Application Screening: All applications received by October 14, 2026 will be screened by the selection committee based on qualification, research experience, and publications.
• Stage 2 – Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview. Mere fulfillment of eligibility criteria does not entitle any candidate to be called for an interview.
• Stage 3 – Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview as per the schedule communicated by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, IISER Bhopal.
• TA/DA: The notification does not mention any TA/DA reimbursement for interview candidates. Candidates are advised not to assume reimbursement.
• No Interim Enquiries: No interim enquiries, correspondence, or communication of any sort will be entertained by the Institute.

• Medical Insurance: It is mandatory for IPDFs to maintain a medical insurance policy (minimum Rs. 1 lakh) in their name valid throughout the Fellowship period. No medical reimbursement is admissible.
• Teaching Assistance: The selected IPDF is expected to assist in teaching course(s) as required by the Department, besides research work.
• No Accommodation: No accommodation will be provided to the IPDFs by the Institute.
• Entitlements: IPDFs will be entitled to leaves and OPD medical facility as applicable to PG students as per the Institute's PG Manual.
