Overview

  • Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi has issued Advertisement No. 04/2024-25 dated 19 September 2026, inviting online applications for 66 temporary contract posts at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), RGSC, Barkachha, Mirzapur, and under various ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRPs). Positions span Academic Levels 14 through L-1, covering scientific, technical, and non-teaching cadres.
  • All appointments are on a contract basis for a maximum of five years, co-terminus with the respective project or post. There is no possibility of absorption into regular University positions. Eligibility will be determined as on the last date of online submission of application.

Age Limit (Non-Teaching Posts – L-6 to L-1)

  • General: 18–30 years
  • OBC: 18–33 years
  • SC/ST: 18–35 years
  • Widows / Divorced / Judicially separated women (not remarried): 18–35 years (40 years for SC/ST)
  • Weightage of 4% marks per year of service (minimum 240 days/year) for daily wages/contractual employees working in BHU, up to 20% ceiling, for Group C & D non-teaching positions.
  • Service rendered in BHU on contract/daily wage/project basis may be considered for age relaxation.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

  • For posts at AL-10 and above: Shortlisting of applications will be carried out as per UGC Regulations 2018 (prescribed guidelines for shortlisting faculty positions). Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
  • For posts at L-01 to L-06: A written test will be conducted by the University. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of written test performance may be required to appear for a skill test (if required).
  • The University reserves the right to apply additional or more stringent criteria for shortlisting, including conducting a written test for Group A posts.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the written test, skill test, or interview.
  • Mere eligibility for a post does not guarantee being called for interview.

  • Visit the official BHU Recruitment portal at www.bhu.ac.in/rac.
  • Register and fill the online application on the Samarth / CU Chayan Portal.
  • Pay the applicable application fee online.
  • Download the submitted application form.
  • Send the hard copy of the downloaded form along with self-attested supporting documents to reach the Office of the Registrar, Recruitment & Assessment Cell, Holkar House, BHU, Varanasi – 221005 on or before 27.10.2026 (up to 5:00 PM).

Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

  • Original Matriculation (10th) Certificate / Birth Certificate as Proof of Date of Birth
  • All Degree Certificates and Consolidated Mark Sheets (as per essential qualification for the applied post)
  • ICAR/UGC/CSIR NET Qualification Certificate (mandatory for AL-10 posts, where applicable)
  • Experience Certificates on official letterhead with detailed designation, period, and nature of work
  • Publications list and research score details for AL-13A and AL-14 posts
  • Valid Category / Caste Certificate in Central Government prescribed format (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD – if applicable)
  • Valid Driving License for Heavy Vehicles (for Driver and Tractor Driver posts)
  • Stenography Speed & Transcription Certificate (for Stenographer Grade III)
  • Two recent passport-size photographs and Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN)

3. Is there any application fee for SC, ST, or women candidates?

  • No. SC, ST, PwBD, and women candidates are fully exempted from payment of application fee. General, EWS, and OBC candidates must pay Rs. 1,000/- for AL-14 to AL/L-10 posts and Rs. 500/- for L-6 to L-1 posts.

5. What is the salary range for these posts?

  • The monthly remuneration ranges from Rs. 18,000 (Level-1) to Rs. 2,18,200 (Academic Level-14) depending on the post and pay level. Pay and allowances are disbursed as per the funding agency's guidelines or BHU Project Guidelines 2018 where no specific guidelines exist.

6. What is the selection process?

  • For AL-10 and above: Shortlisting as per UGC Regulations 2018 followed by interview. For L-01 to L-06: Written test followed by skill test (if required). No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in any stage of the selection process.
