Desirable Qualifications (Both Posts)

  • Ph.D. Degree in relevant subject.
  • Knowledge of customs, manners, dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for engagement in peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

  • Stage 1 – Written Examination (Same Day, Two Sessions):Paper-I (Objective Screening Test): 1 Hour, 100 Marks. Sections: GK Himachal Pradesh (30), GK National/International (30), Hindi (20), English (20). Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong/unattempted/blank answer (Option 'E' available to avoid negative marking).Paper-II (Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test): 3 Hours, 120 Marks. Syllabus as decided by Commission. Minimum Pass Marks: 45% (General), 40% (Reserved).
  • Stage 2 – Personality Test: For candidates qualifying the written examination.
  • Reservation Benefit: Restricted to Bonafide Residents of Himachal Pradesh only.
  • TA/DA: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the examination / personality test.

Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

  • Original Matriculation (10th) Certificate / Birth Certificate as Proof of Date of Birth
  • All Degree and Consolidated Mark Sheets (Relevant Qualifications: M.Sc / MCA / M.Tech)
  • Experience Certificates on Official Letterhead (minimum 3 years for Scientific Officer, 7 years for Assistant Director)
  • Valid Category / Caste Certificate in Central Government prescribed format (if applicable)
  • Bonafide Himachali Certificate (for reserved category candidates claiming age relaxation)
  • Two recent passport-size photographs & Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN)
  • Printout of submitted Online Application Form with Fee Receipt

What is the application fee for HPPSC Assistant Director / Scientific Officer recruitment?

  • A uniform fee of Rs. 600 is applicable for all categories (General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD, Ex-Servicemen). Fee is non-refundable and payable online only.

What is the selection process for these posts?

  • Selection comprises a written examination (Paper-I Objective Screening Test + Paper-II Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test) conducted on the same day, followed by a Personality Test for shortlisted candidates.

Is there any age relaxation for reserved categories?

  • Yes, 5 years upper age relaxation is admissible to Bonafide SC/ST/OBC/WFF of Himachal Pradesh and Persons with Disabilities of HP, provided posts are reserved for these categories. For HP Government employees and Ex-Servicemen of HP, relaxation applies as per government instructions.
