Eligibility

• GATE 2026: you must have appeared and qualified in the matching GATE 2026 paper: Electrical – EE, Civil – CE, Computer Science – CS. Only the GATE 2026 score (normalised marks out of 100) counts; GATE 2025 or older scores are not valid.
• Electrical: full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.) in Electrical, Electrical (Power), Electrical and Electronics, Power Systems Engineering or Power Engineering (Electrical).
• Civil: full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.) in Civil Engineering.
• Computer Science: full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology.
• Marks: minimum 60% or equivalent CGPA (relaxed to pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved posts, as per the advertisement).
• Candidates who want to pursue further studies through GATE 2026, or who would need extra time to join, should not apply.

Age Limit

• Maximum 28 years as on 31/12/2025.
• Relaxation: OBC (NCL) 3 years and SC/ST 5 years (for posts reserved for that category); PwBD 10 years (UR/EWS), 13 years (OBC-NCL) and 15 years (SC/ST); ex-servicemen and riot victims as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• During one-year training: basic pay ₹40,000 in the scale ₹40,000–3%–1,40,000 (IDA), plus IDA, HRA and perks at 12% of basic.
• Approximate CTC: ₹11.00 lakh a year during training and ₹22.50 lakh a year after training (varies with location).
• After training: absorbed as Engineer in the E2 scale, ₹50,000–3%–1,60,000 (IDA).
• Service bond: complete training and serve at least 3 years after it. Bond amount ₹5,00,000 (General/OBC/EWS) or ₹2,50,000 (SC/ST/PwBD).

Exam Pattern

• No separate written exam by POWERGRID. Your GATE 2026 normalised marks in the matching paper are used.
• Weightage: GATE 2026 marks 85%, group discussion 3%, personal interview 12%.
• You must qualify in GATE 2026 and in the personal interview separately to be empanelled.

Selection Process

• Category-wise shortlisting on GATE 2026 marks
• Group discussion (may include a psychometric assessment)
• Personal interview
• Pre-employment medical examination as per POWERGRID norms
