Post-Wise Vacancy, Age Limit & Pay Scale

• A total of 6 vacancies are available across six distinct posts under this notification. Two posts (Medical Officer, Assistant Registrar) are substantive appointments initially made for one year, while four posts are purely contractual for a period of one year.

Age Relaxation

• Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities (PWD), and candidates currently working at Vidyasagar University as per applicable Government norms and University rules.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Only eligible Indian Nationals may apply. Detailed post-wise qualifications are as follows:
• Medical Officer: MBBS from a recognized University affiliated to the Medical Council of India; Registration Certificate from West Bengal Medical Council or Medical Council of India; at least 10 years' experience of medical practice in a Government/Military/Quasi-Government hospital (10 years' hospital experience may be relaxed in case of private practice of reputation for 15 years). Desirable: Post Graduate Degree in any branch of Medical Science or Diploma in Public and Tropical Medicine.
• Assistant Registrar: Uniformly good academic record with a Master's Degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade; at least 10 years' experience in supervisory capacity in a University, Research Institute, or Government/Quasi-Government organisation; at least 5 years' administrative experience. Desirable: Degree in Business Management, Law, Statistics, or Planning.
• Training and Placement Officer (Contract): Uniformly good academic record with a Master's Degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade; minimum 7 years' experience in supervisory capacity in an organization engaged in production or teaching in a recognized Institute of Post Graduate Learning. Desirable: Experience in major industrial capacity in India (particularly West Bengal) or experience in marketing/sales of a public sector organization.
• Assistant Professor – LLM (Contract): Good academic record with at least 55% marks at Master's Degree level in LLM (Specialization: Business Law) along with NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. exemption as per UGC norms.
• Assistant Professor – Population, Health and Development (Contract): Good academic record with at least 55% marks at Master's Degree level in a relevant subject (Specialization: Population and Demography / Health and Population Geography / Population and Development Studies / Urban and Regional Planning / Population and Environmental Studies / Gender and Development Studies / Regional Development and Planning / Human Geography / Population and Social Development) along with NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. exemption as per UGC norms.
• Assistant Professor – Santali (Contract): Good academic record with at least 55% marks at Master's Degree level in Santali (Specialization: Linguistics) along with NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. exemption as per UGC norms.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• The selection process for all six posts consists of the following stages:
• Written / Screening Test: Conducted only if the number of applicants for a particular post exceeds the University's screening threshold. Details of the screening test (syllabus, qualifying marks) will be prescribed by the University as applicable.
• Interview: Candidates who qualify the screening test (if conducted) or are shortlisted on the basis of eligibility will be called for a personal interview.
• Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of interview. Candidates unable to produce originals will be disqualified.
• No Travel Allowance / Dearness Allowance (TA/DA) will be paid to candidates appearing for the screening test or interview.

• The application process is offline only. Follow these steps to submit a valid application:
• Download the prescribed application form from the official Vidyasagar University website.
• Obtain a valid Bank Drawn Demand Draft (DD) for the requisite fee, drawn in favour of "Vidyasagar University" and payable at Midnapore.
• Complete the application form with accurate personal, educational, and professional details. Attach the required undertaking as available with the form on the website.
• Prepare one original and seven photocopies of the duly filled-in application form. Attach self-attested copies of all relevant certificates, mark sheets, and testimonials with the first original copy. Include the original Bank Draft.
• Candidates applying for more than one post must submit a separate application for each post.
• Mention the name of the post applied for prominently on the cover envelope.
• Send the completed application by registered post / speed post to:The Registrar, Vidyasagar University, Midnapore – 721102, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal
• Ensure the application reaches the University on or before 27 October 2026. Applications received after the last date will not be entertained.

Key Instructions

• Applications received without the requisite fee or self-attested certificates will be rejected.
• Only SC, ST, OBC, and EC certificates issued by the competent authority of the Government of West Bengal will be accepted for reservation benefits.
• Persons employed in Government, Semi-Government organizations, or Autonomous Bodies must apply through proper channel or provide an NOC with an undertaking.
• Substantive posts are initially appointed for 1 year with possible regularization based on performance. Contractual posts are made for 1 year with possible renewal.
• Canvassing in any form — directly or indirectly — will result in immediate disqualification of the candidature.

3. What is the application fee for each post?

• The application fee is Rs. 800 for the Medical Officer post and Rs. 600 for all other posts (Assistant Registrar, Training and Placement Officer, and all three Assistant Professor positions). The fee must be paid via Bank Draft in favour of "Vidyasagar University" payable at Midnapore.

5. What is the salary for these posts?

• The Medical Officer receives Rs. 79,800 per month (Level 12) plus other admissible allowances. The Assistant Registrar receives Rs. 57,700 per month (Level 10) plus admissible allowances. Contract-based posts (Training and Placement Officer, Assistant Professors) receive consolidated pay as per University norms, the exact figure of which is prescribed separately by Vidyasagar University.

6. What is the selection process?

• The selection consists of a written or screening test (conducted only if the number of applicants for a post is large) followed by an interview. Original documents will be verified at the time of interview. No TA/DA will be paid to candidates.
