Post-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale

• The age limit is as on the date of advertisement (5 November 2026). Internal candidates already in the services of the Institute have no upper age limit.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Research Assistant – I (Unreserved): Minimum 2nd Class Post Graduate degree from a recognized University/Institution in Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, Mathematics, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Anthropology, Geography, or Public Health. Four years of experience post-qualification (after Post Graduation) / Ph.D. Experience requirement is relaxable in deserving cases.
• Research Assistant – II (OBC): Minimum 2nd Class Post Graduate degree from a recognized University/Institution in the same listed subjects. One year of experience post-qualification (after Post Graduation). Experience requirement is relaxable in deserving cases.
• Additional Requirements:
• Candidates holding a degree from a foreign university must submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at the time of applying.
• Candidates currently in service must apply through proper channel with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer.
• For the OBC post, a valid OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate in Government of India prescribed format is mandatory.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• The selection is based on short-listing by a Screening Committee followed by an interview. The process operates as follows:
• Online Application Screening: A Screening Committee appointed for the purpose short-lists candidates from all applications received. The decision of the Screening Committee is final and binding.
• Meeting minimum qualifications does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. Only short-listed candidates receive a call letter, sent exclusively to their registered email.
• Interview: The interview date will be communicated to short-listed candidates via email. No interview date is publicly announced at this stage.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview or for joining the post. No correspondence will be entertained from applicants who are not short-listed. The Institute reserves the right to cancel or postpone the interview for unforeseen reasons, and also the right not to fill the post if no suitable candidate is found.

Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

• Original Matriculation (10th) Certificate / Birth Certificate as Proof of Date of Birth
• All Degree and Consolidated Mark Sheets (Post Graduate in listed subjects)
• Experience Certificates on Official Letterhead (as applicable for the post applied)
• Valid OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate in Government of India prescribed format (for OBC post)
• Self-attested copies of all educational, experience, and supporting documents submitted with application (originals must NOT be sent; produce at interview)
• Latest Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• No Objection Certificate from current employer (if already in service)
• Equivalence Certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for foreign degrees
• Two recent passport-size photographs & Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN)
• Important Instructions: Incomplete applications or applications not in the prescribed form with requisite testimonials will be rejected without intimation. Candidates furnishing incorrect, false, or misleading information shall be disqualified at any stage. Self-attested copies will not be returned. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
