Eligibility for Marine Engineer

  • Essential Qualification: MOT I Class Motor Certificate or Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate issued under Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
  • Experience: One year post qualification experience as Chief Engineer/2nd Engineer on board a foreign going ship.
  • Age Limit: Up to 40 years (As on 01/01/2026). Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for ST candidates.

Salary & Benefits

  • Regular appointments will be on the payscale of Rs. 70000-200000 on the pay pattern linked to Industrial DA and includes cafeteria allowance at 35% of basic pay.
  • At present pay levels, the remuneration works out approximately to Rs. 1,51,000/- at the minimum of the scale besides admissible work related perks/allowances.
  • Other service benefits include leave, medical aid for self and dependent family, advances for purchase of house, car etc.
  • Residential quarters on license fee is admissible. New contributory Pension Scheme shall apply.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be through a competitive written examination and/or personal interview.

  • Applications complete in all respects along with documents must be forwarded in an envelope superscribing “Application for the post of “Marine Engineer”.

  • Documents required: Self-attested copies of certificates for age, educational qualifications, experience, and Caste Certificate (if applicable).
