Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

  • For Librarian & Librarian cum Research Assistant: Bachelor of Library and Information Science or its equivalent Degree from a recognized university. Preferably a Degree in Law. Certificate regarding basic knowledge of computer as prescribed by the Gujarat State Government. Sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati, and Hindi languages. Minimum 2 years of experience in a well-organized library after obtaining the degree.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

  • The selection process includes:
  • Main Written Examination: Objective Type (MCQs) of 100 marks, scheduled for 29 November 2026. Syllabus covers Library Science, English & Gujarati Languages, General Studies, Logical Reasoning, Basic Legal Knowledge, and Computer Application.
  • Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview): 40 marks, to be held in December 2026 or January 2027.
  • Final Merit List: Prepared based on aggregate marks from both stages.
  • Screening Clause: If the number of candidates exceeds a threshold, a screening written test may be conducted. No Travel Allowance (TA) or Dearness Allowance (DA) will be paid for attending the selection process.

Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

  • Candidates must bring the following documents for verification:
  • Original Matriculation (10th) Certificate or Birth Certificate as proof of date of birth.
  • All degree and consolidated mark sheets for the required qualifications.
  • Experience certificates of 2 years in a well-organized library on official letterhead.
  • Valid Category/Caste certificate in Central Government prescribed format, if applicable.
  • Two recent passport-size photographs and valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN).
  • Certificate of basic computer knowledge as per Gujarat State Government norms.
  • Note: Candidates must apply online only via hc-ojas.gujarat.gov.in. No offline applications are accepted.
