Essential Qualification

• A B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with GATE qualification, OR
• An M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc./M.Sc Tech. degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Earth Science, or Geology.
• GATE/NET-qualified candidates will be given preference.

Age Limit

• The age limit is 35 years, counted on the last date of advertisement. The notice adds that relaxation in the age limit will be permitted based on experience and qualification, and that relaxation on qualification and age is as per Govt. of India Rules. The application form asks for age as on the last date of application.

How to Apply for NIT Silchar Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Applications are sent only by email, as a soft copy, to the Principal Investigator. The filled-up application form must be received by 30 November 2026.
• Use the "Format of Application" for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) given in the notice (Annexure 01(A) - 2).
• Fill in the form: advertisement number, project title, funding agency, department, personal details, educational qualifications from Class X, NET/GATE details and employment details, then sign the declaration.
• Paste a recent passport size coloured photograph on the form.
• Attach your C.V. and soft copies of all supporting documents.
• Email everything to [email protected] with the subject line: "Application for the post of JRF under the project - ANRF/ECRG/2024/005933/ENS".

Selection and Interview

• The Institute has the discretion to restrict the number of candidates short-listed for the interview on the basis of screening. The interview date and mode (online/offline), with other details, will be notified through email. Employed candidates must submit a no objection certificate from their employer at the time of interview. No candidate may be recruited if suitable candidates are not found.
