Post-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale

• Note on Pay: The amount payable to a Professor of Practice cannot be met from the salary grant received from the State Government (Ordinance-189). Mileage allowance is payable at ₹2.50–₹11.00 per km for University-related travel depending on conveyance used.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Professor of Practice: Distinguished experts who have made remarkable contributions in fields such as engineering, science, technology, entrepreneurship, commerce, social sciences, media, literature, fine arts, civil services, armed forces, the legal profession, community development, panchayati raj, rural development, watershed development, water harvesting, organic farming, small green-energy systems, municipal planning, community participation, gender budgeting, inclusive development of tribals, public administration, and related disciplines.
• Minimum Experience: At least fifteen (15) years of service or experience, preferably at a senior level. A formal academic qualification is not considered essential where the candidate has exemplary professional practice in lieu thereof.
• AICTE-Government of Gujarat Norms (14/10/2024 G.R.): For departments running programmes under AICTE – (a) Ph.D. with 10 years of relevant experience in a large conglomerate; (b) Master's degree with 15 years of relevant working experience in a large conglomerate; (c) B.E./B.Tech. with 17 years of relevant working experience in a large conglomerate; or (d) Ph.D./Master's/B.Tech. with a minimum of 5 patents and 5 years of experience in a start-up.
• Research Guidance: A Ph.D. is desirable for guiding research scholars at the Ph.D. level but is not mandatory for teaching.
• Disqualification: Persons who are in the teaching profession — whether serving or retired — are excluded and shall not be engaged. Applications from such persons shall be summarily rejected.
• Nationality / Age Limit: Not specified in the notification.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• The selection shall be carried out in accordance with the Procedure for Selection of Professor of Practice prescribed under Ordinance-189 and the University Circular dated 15/04/2023.
• Selection Committee Composition: Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor or representative; Head of the concerned Department; Dean of the respective Faculty; two subject experts nominated by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor; and one eminent external (non-academic) member nominated by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor.
• Quorum: Minimum four members, with the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor or the representative of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor present.
• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates appearing for document verification or selection.
• Originals of all certificates shall be produced for verification when called by the University.

Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

• Self-attested testimonials, certificates, and supporting documents in PDF format for online upload.
• Detailed biodata and a brief write-up about the potential contribution to the University.
• Applications shall be submitted online only through the Google Form available on the VNSGU website.
• The initial tenure of engagement shall be for one year, extendable up to three years in all.
• The position is on a fixed-term basis and confers no right or claim whatsoever to regular appointment.
• The Professor of Practice engaged shall not be eligible for any service benefits, E.P.F., gratuity, or perks other than the fixed honorarium.
• Candidates may apply for more than one Department or subject area by indicating the order of preference in the Google Form, with a separate submission for each Department.
• Subsequent application windows remain open from the 1st to the 20th of every month, with the cut-off date for rolling applications on 30/07/2027.
