- Short Information: NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026 The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has started the online application process for Scientific/Technical Assistant-A Recruitment 2026. The recruitment is being conducted for 376 Group-B S&T (Non-Gazetted) posts on a direct recruitment basis, and candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their valid GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026 score.

NIC Vacancy 2026: Discipline-Wise Posts
- NIC has notified vacancies across three disciplines:

- Candidates must possess the required qualification by the closing date of the application.
- Computer Sciences & Information Technology
- Applicants must have passed M.Sc./MS/MCA/B.E./B.Tech. in the specified fields, including:

- For this discipline, candidates must have a valid GATE score in Computer Science and Information Technology (CS) from GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026.

- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

- No experience is required for the Scientific/Technical Assistant-A post.
Age Limit : NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026
- The upper age limit is calculated as on September 30, 2026.
- The advertisement also provides specific relaxations for PwBD and eligible government-service candidates. A 5-year age relaxation is provided for certain government employees working in the same or allied cadres where their previous service is considered useful for the advertised post.

NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant Selection Process

- In case two or more candidates have the same GATE score, NIC will resolve the tie in the following order:
- The candidate with the older-year GATE score will rank higher.
- If the GATE score and year are the same, the older candidate will rank higher.
- If the tie continues, the candidate with the higher percentage in the essential qualification will rank higher.
- Shortlisted candidates will subsequently be called for document verification. Appointment will be provisional and subject to successful verification and fulfilment of all eligibility requirements.
