Interview Q&A / HR & Behavioral

BeginnerQuick answer1 min readUpdated 3 Oct 2026

After your interview, a friend asks you to share the questions so they can prepare. What would you do?

SHORT ANSWER

You can share general topics and preparation tips, but not confidential test questions, especially if the company asked you not to. Respect the fairness of the process while still helping your friend.

Explain it simply

In campus drives, students often attend on different days, and sharing exact questions is common. But many companies ask candidates to keep test content private, and leaked question papers can lead to a test being cancelled or a college being blacklisted.

The ethical line: share how you prepared and broad areas ("focus on SQL joins and puzzles"), not the exact questions or answers, especially for written tests.

Example

Situation: Pooja gave an online test on day one of a two-day drive, and her roommate asked for the exact questions.

Task: Help her roommate without breaking the company's rules.

Action: She told her roommate she had agreed not to share the exact questions, but explained that the test focused on arrays, string problems and basic SQL, recommended two practice sets, and spent an evening doing mock questions with her.

Result: Her roommate cleared the test on her own preparation, and Pooja kept her word to the company.

What to say in the interview

"I'd share broad topics and how I prepared, but not the exact questions, especially if the company asked us to keep them confidential. That keeps it fair for everyone."

Common mistakes

  • Saying you would share everything because everyone does.
  • Refusing to help your friend at all.
  • Posting questions on social media.
